It should be read together with the La Trobe University Privacy Policy, which provides additional information about privacy rights, access to personal information, correction requests and complaints processes.

Gather is operated by The Bouverie Centre, a centre of La Trobe University.

The Bouverie Centre collects information for the purposes described in this Notice.

Information collected during registration

When creating a Gather account, we may collect:

  • name

  • email address

  • password

  • age range

  • postcode or region

  • gender identity

  • cultural or demographic information

  • other demographic information relevant to service evaluation

Information collected through platform use

As you use Gather, we may collect information including:

  • login activity

  • resources viewed

  • activities started or completed

  • time spent using the platform

  • navigation patterns

  • survey participation

  • feature usage

  • browser and device information

Feedback and evaluation information

You may be invited to provide:

Information used for these purposes will be de-identified and presented in aggregated form so that individuals cannot reasonably be identified. 

If a future research project requires identifiable information or direct participation beyond normal platform use, separate ethics approval and consent processes will be used.

Access is limited to authorised personnel who require access for operational, support, evaluation, quality improvement or research purposes.

This may include:

  • Bouverie Centre staff

  • La Trobe University staff

  • approved contractors providing technical support

  • approved evaluation and research personnel

Will your information be disclosed to others?

Personal information will not ordinarily be shared outside La Trobe University without your consent unless:

While reasonable safeguards are used, no online system can guarantee absolute security.
